ALVERNO: A Thin Place II
Pablo Lopez, a student of the Capuchin Formation Program at Borromeo in Wickliffe, OH, has produced a new video about Alverno, our house for prayer, solitude and fraternity in the hills near Salisbury, PA. Pablo asks the members of the CFP to reflect on their experience of the special place, and our brother Lester Knoll, OFM Cap., who ministers with the students of Borromeo, shares his own special moments there.

College Life for the CFP
The Capuchin candidates of the Capuchin Formation Program (The CFP) at Borromeo Seminary participated in the March for Life on January 27, 2017, with their Capuchin brothers in Washington D.C. Sam Hadjis, Kristhian Guillen, and Pablo Lopez served as acolytes at the Capuchin Mass for Life in the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception which took place before the march. Fr. Tom Betz, OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, celebrated the Mass.

3 More Deacons to Serve
Three of our Capuchin friars were ordained to serve as transitional deacons in a Mass celebrated on January 3, 2017, at St. Augustine Church in Pittsburgh, PA. The three friars now join three other friar-deacons in their goal to serve the Church as Capuchin friar priests.
In the left photo, friars Roshan Anthonypillai, OFM Cap., Phil White, OFM Cap. and Reynaldo FrÃas-Santana, OFM Cap., are in the front row, while our three other friar deacons, Al Carver, OFM Cap., James Watson, OFM Cap. and Jonathan Ulrick, OFM Cap., stand behind them in this photo taken after the completion of the Mass.
Our Friars in Formation
Our friars in formation continue their discernemnt at our St. Francis Friary in Washington, DC -- also known as "Capuchin College," a name which has 'stuck' through the generations, even though the friars study at Catholic University or other schools in the metro area.
Their stories are accounts of God's action in their lives - an action which will appear much like the human stories they are. God was at work, drawing them from various various walks of life and with various talents and interests, to become part of our Capuchin brotherhood.
A Mannequin Novitiate?
Our novice brother, Edgar Pereira, OFM Cap., let us know that the novices completed a Mannequin Challenge video. Phil Bernier, OFM Cap., now a staff member of the novitiate friary in Santa Ynez, CA, told us that Edgar was an important contributor to getting the video made and uploaded to the web.
For those who are clueless about what exactly a "Mannequin Challenge" is (like me), I resorted to Google for help: "A Mannequin Challenge is a viral video craze featuring people imitating mannequins and freezing for the camera while music plays in the background. Many people are sharing videos using the hashtag #MannequinChallenge." So now we know! Here's the video:
