Our Province's brothers Bill Talentino, OFM Cap., and Phil Bernier, OFM Cap., accompanied the novitiate community on a visit to our Capuchin ministries and sites in the city of San Francisco. The novices are making this special year of discernment before taking vows in our Capuchin life in Santa Ynez, CA, but the took some time to travel north.
In an excursion to San Francisco, the 13 novices were able to visit the National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi, staffed by the friars of Our Lady of Angels Province. They prayed in the replica of Assisi's "Porziuncola" and visited the St. Anthony Foundation & Dining Room where, according to the website, "hope is served daily," An impressive 42 million people have been served in their six decades of service. They also prayed at the tomb of St. Junipero Serra. We caught our novices Joe Morton & Luke Kim in a number of the shots.
While we're on the topic of the Novices, they also posted photos from their Thanksgiving celebration last week . . . . Tom Betz was on hand to join in the feasting.
