In the first week of November, Dan DeMatte and Patrick Reis from Encounter Ministries interviewed our brother Tommy Piolata, OFM Cap. on Encounter Radio. The station is a joint production of St. Gabriel Catholic Radio in association with EWTN and is internationally syndicated on the EWTN Global Catholic Radio network and the Ave Maria Radio Network." Their mission is to highlight "the supernatural encounters of ordinary people that launch them into lives of extraordinary mission," and Br. Tommy got the chance to share his vocation story.
Our brother writes that "I was honored to be on their show. I have known Dan DeMatte ever since my early years in high school. He served as one of the youth ministers at a nearby parish. Not only, however, did I know him from youth ministry, but I also spent a few of my summers serving at Catholic Youth Summer Camp, which has since grown to be the premier Catholic youth camp in Ohio. Dan currently serves as the Director of Evangelization at the Camp. Encounter Radio is based out of Columbus, Ohio, so the interview took place over the phone on November 1st (my birthday . . . and All Saints Day of course!) and aired on Saturday, November 4."
The above video rendering (used by permission) contains only the segment which includes the interview. You can hear all of Saturday's broadcast on the Encounter website.
Br. Tommy is a friar student completing his Theology studies at Catholic University in preparation for his desire to be ordained to the priesthood. He is a member of our St. Francis Friary ("Capuchin College") in Washington, DC.
